FINNISH CHAMPION, JUNIOR WORLD WINNER 1998, FINNISH WINNER 1999, EUROPEAN VETERAN WINNER 2006ISLE VIEW MINDROLING MISTY29 April 2007- 26 July 2007 "Misty" came to us as puppy in the summer of 1997 after a long wait to become a family member. She was the first American Water Spaniel in Finland. Misty was my dog and followed me everywhere at home. Misty liked people and assumed that everybody wanted to pet her. My daughter Mathilda was two years old when Misty arrived and they grew up together and it was great to see them together. Misty was clearly afraid of big dogs but the smaller the dog the more she liked to make friends with them. Maybe it was because she grew up with a barking Tibetan Terrier that taught her to protect our home by barking if somebody was at the door. Misty used to swim when she was younger but when she became old she just enjoed wetting her feet by the shore. Misty had a happy temperament. She was simply a perfect unforgettable family dog for us. Misty got hemangiosarcoma-cancer and that finally took her from us. We all miss our Misty tremendously. Dog showsI took Misty to a few dog shows and she was the first American water spaniel who became a Finnish show champion. She got three FCI winner titles as well. She was the first American water spaniel shown in the FCI world winner show. She was BOB (best of breed) at the Helsinki World winner show in 1998 and got the title Junior World Winner 1998. She also got the first Finnish Winner title in 1999 when she was BOB at the Helsinki Finnish winner show and recieved her last CC. At that time in Finland it was possible to only recieve three CC:s, now it is possible to win "as many as you like" when the dog is under two years old. Her last title was European veteran winner 2006 from the European winner show in Helsinki where she was BOB-Veteran. Finnish Spaniel Working testI took Misty to the Finnish spaniel working test when she was 7-years old and she passed it. Finnish hunting tracking test (MEJÄ)Misty tracked a dead rabbit very well at the spaniel working test so I got interested in Finnish hunting tracking tests. I took her to her first test when she was seven and she got third prize from open class. I took her to a few tests and her best prize was first prize from open class. It was fun to see that an old dog and her adult owner could learn new things. It would have been interesting to see how far Misty could have competed if we would have started earlier. I am now continuing this activity with Curly. Health checksIn November 2005 we took Misty for her health checks. Se had healthy hips (FCI B/B), elbows (0/0), knees (0/0) ja eyes. Her thyroid results (TSH, T4, TGA) were also normal.
